Meet Dr. Derek Owens

Dr. Derek “Dr. D” Owens, is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and was born and raised in Colorado.  He graduated from Regis Jesuit High School in Aurora, Colorado. Dr. D attended Georgetown University in Washington, DC, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Biology. After his four years at Georgetown, he attended The University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine.

Dr. D became interested in pediatric dentistry while working as a dental assistant in pediatric dental offices in the Lone Tree area.  After dental school, Dr. D was selected as one of four dentists out of hundreds of applicants to complete a 2 year residency program at The Children’s Hospital of Michigan.

During residency, Dr. D gained specialized clinical, emergency, and hospital training to work with kids.  In addition to employing the techniques he learned in residency, Dr. D loves using his sense of humor and gentle touch to make every visit fun for your child. In his free time, Dr. D enjoys playing ice hockey, skiing, snowboarding, golfing, and cooking. He also loves sports and is a huge fan of all Colorado Sports teams and the Georgetown Hoyas basketball team.
